Text: Joshua 1:1-9
Memory Verse: “Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
Many are the challenges in life’s journey and each of them is a good reason to give up trying, believing that we cannot make it. God, however, expects us to be courageous in the face of challenges, say “No” to discouragement and forge ahead until we reach our goal. He has promised to be with us through such times (Isaiah 43:2).
Imagine what Joshua and Caleb saw when they spied the land of Canaan, great city walls that seemed impenetrable and giants that seemed unconquerable. Yet, consider their testimony when they got back. They were full of faith and
courage about what God had promised.
Understanding the promises of God, faith in His power and patience in His timing, shows our trust in Him. A real man is not one that does not cry, but one who knows and understands God’s workings. He takes his place in his home
and with his authority, leads his family in the fear of God. You can be that type of man by building up your faith and confidence in God. Let faith replace fear in your heart. Believe God’s word and keep holding on.
Has God promised you something? Do you have a dream of a desired future? Then be strong and courageous like Caleb and Joshua. Take up the courage that comes from faith in God. The Lord has not given you the spirit of fear but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me to recognise that You are bigger than every problem.
2. Lord, show forth Your mighty power in my life.
