Text: Acts 14:1-7
Memory Verse: “They became aware of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region” (Acts 14:6).
Life is sacred because it is God’s gift to every man. God is the sustainer of life, but you also have responsibilities to live with wisdom and not be a victim of destructive occurrences. Many people have lost their lives ignorantly thinking they are demonstrating boldness by confronting dangerous situations or events they should have avoided or completely run away from. Yes, if they are believers, they will make heaven, but they may not have completed God’s assignment for them here on earth.
The apostles were ministering to the Jews in the Synagogue at Iconium when some of the unbelieving Jews began to mobilise people against them. They were not intimidated, but continued to stay there speaking boldly in the name
of the Lord, bearing witness to the word of His grace and even performing miracles (Acts 14:3). However, the moment they noticed the environment was becoming violent, they fled and left the place not necessarily because they feared losing their lives, but they understood the time; they knew there was a time to be bold and there
was also a time to flee as they could not afford to be victims of that violent act. As we go about our personal lives and doing God’s work, we need to be sensitive to know when to avoid life threatening danger. Allow the Holy Spirit
to lead you, be like the sons of Issachar who understood the times and knew what to do.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, grant me grace to understand the time we are in.
2. Holy Spirit, lead and guide me in all my ways.
