Text: 1 John 1:5-7
Memory Verse: “If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practise the truth” (1 John 1:6).
Anyone searching for a lost item needs light to illuminate the environment and aid the search process. Light is very important; it aids visibility. Without it you are bound to stumble or miss your way. Trying to locate a place you have never been to before at night is not easy, but daylight makes finding your way easier. The story of the Ethiopian Eunuch that Philip was directed to by the Holy Spirit is a good example. When asked whether he understood what he was reading he answered, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” (Acts 8:31) Similarly, going through life, with its twists and turns on your own, is bound to be tricky. God declares Himself as the light of the world (John 8:12). He is able and willing to chaperone you, if you let Him. Without Him, everyone and, indeed, the world is in darkness. God’s light gives direction and with it you will be able to see where you are going.
Are you a Christian? Every time you declare that you are, you are saying that Jesus lives within you. If that is true, it means that you have ‘The Light of the world’ in you. With Jesus’ light in you, you can see where you are going and you should reflect that light everywhere you go. Do you? If not, you are living a lie. Like Robert Lowry, cry out to God saying, “I need Thee, O I need Thee, every hour I need Thee.”
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, I need You every moment of my life.
2. Lead me through life; let me not walk in darkness.
