Commenndation or Condemnation

Text: Matthew 25:14-26-30
Memory Verse: “And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 25:30).

In the parable of the talents, Jesus pointed out that the two servants who invested and multiplied what had been entrusted to them received the Master’s highest commendation: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” On the contrary, the servant who buried his gifts rather than risk and lose received the Master’s harshest condemnation: ‘…You wicked and lazy servant…’ (Matthew 25 v. 26).

Everyone created by God has an inborn ability called talent which God deposited in them. Also, everyone born of God has been given spiritual ability to do some things for the benefits of mankind and the Kingdom of God, these are called spiritual gifts. These gifts are given to us to profit with, “but to each are given the manifestation of the Spirit [the spiritual illumination and the enabling of the Holy Spirit] for the common good” (1 Corinthian 12:7).

We are saved to serve, Christ died to redeem us to Himself, gave us the Holy Spirit and spiritual enablement through the Holy Spirit to go make impacts for His Kingdom. He expects us to be occupied doing Kingdom business with these gifts and bring profits to His Kingdom. God is pleased when we keep making efforts to make profits and glorify Him with our gifts and talents.

Commendation or condemnation: which will you receive? What are you doing with the deposits of God in your life? If you do not engage His gifts in your life profitably, you stand to lose it and face God’s judgement.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, forgive me for my negligence and failures.
2. Help me, Holy Spirit, to be a profitable servant.
