Ears & Eyes – God’s Gifts

Text: Proverbs 20:11 -13
Memory Verse: “Ears to hear and eyes to see—both are gifts from the Lord” (Proverbs 20:12 NLT).

Our ears and eyes are precious gifts from God. However, how we use these gifts determines whether they become offerings of worship or insults to the Giver. God gave us ears to hear, and the Bible tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). However, just as faith comes by hearing, so do fear and unbelief when we constantly listen to the voice of the enemy, to lies, gossip, slander, and worldly philosophies.

What are you doing with your ears? Are you using them to hear the Word of God through sermons, uplifting messages, and songs and hymns that edify? Or are you feeding them with worldly music, demonic content, gossip, and profane talk? Using your ears for the latter is not only harmful to your soul, it is also an insult to the God who gave them to you.

Also, what are you doing with the gift of your eyes? Do you use them to behold the beauty of creation, read and meditate on the Scripture, or engage with wholesome content? Or are you using them to consume pornography, feed
covetousness, or satisfy carnal desires? The Bible warns that the lust of the eyes is part of worldliness that leads to destruction (1 John 2:16). May you not be found guilty of misusing these divine gifts. Your ears and eyes are gifts from God; so use them to glorify Him.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, show me mercy in every way I have sinned with my eyes and ears.
2. Lord, please circumcise my ears and eyes, so I can glorify You with them.
