Text: Luke 15:11-24
Memory Verse: ”And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven, and before you” (Luke 15:17&18).
Many Christians say they worship God in spirit and in truth, but also display negative attitudes. They still manifest the works of the flesh (Galatians 5: 19-21). They are engrossed in sinful acts like drinking and getting drunk, borrowing without paying back, gossiping, lying, and cursing, among others. Some young men and women are involved in
unwholesome relationships, stealing tithes and offering in church, yet they take active part in church worship.
The prodigal son came to a point in his suffering that he declared that he had had enough. Enough of struggling for left-overs with goats, enough of suffering. It was time for change. He was tired of living a careless and wayward life. It was time to come back to his father and ask for forgiveness. He needed to really live.
Hannah experienced a bout of suffering due to her barrenness. She had endured years of mockery from her mate and others due to her situation. That year in Shiloh, she declared that enough was enough. She tabled the matter before the One that has the solution to all issues of life and received her answer (1 Samuel 1:9-12).
What situation are you facing today that has almost become a part of your life? Is it lying spontaneously, stealing, drunkenness, gambling, cursing, gossiping, disobedience, etc.? It is time to change. You need to declare that enough is enough and come back to Jesus. He is waiting to receive and give you a new lease of life. Enough is enough.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, forgive me for all my shortcomings as a Christian.
2. Heavenly Father, grant me the grace to live as a Christian at all times.
