Text: Jeremiah 20:9-11
Memory Verse: “Then I said, ‘I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.’ But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not” (Jeremiah 20:9).
When an unquenchable fire burns within, it produces unstoppable Wenergy. This mirrors the intensity with which Jesus carried out and entrusted us with God’s greatest assignment—soul winning. His mission was marked by urgency, not the lukewarm attitude seen in much of the church today.
Secularism now dominates many aspects of society where Christ’s power and influence should be evident. This is not in line with God’s plan, as shown in John 12:32, which highlights His desire to draw all people to Himself through the gospel.
Jim Elliot was married for less than two years and had a baby daughter when he felt compelled to take the gospel to a dangerous, unreached tribe in Ecuador. At just 28, he and four fellow missionaries were killed. But the fire did not die there. His wife, Elizabeth Elliot, driven by the same passion, returned to that same tribe two years later. Despite her grief, she shared the gospel with the very people responsible for her husband’s death. Many in the tribe, including the killers, came to Christ. Her courage reflects the burning commitment seen in 1 Corinthians 9:16.
When believers respond with this level of passion, the gospel thrives, and lives are transformed. Let this inspire you to embrace God’s heart for soul winning with boldness and urgency. Every believer is a missionary. Do not wait for a convenient time to preach the Gospel.
Prayer Points:
1. Dear Father, help me to identify the soul(s) that you have prepared for
harvest today.
2. May the obstacles meant to combat the gospel of Jesus Christ and
neutralise my passion become fuel to my resolution for soul winning.
