Text: Daniel 9:20-23

Memory Verse: “At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore, consider the matter, and understand the vision” (Daniel 9:23).

We often overlook the place of relationship when we pray. To many, prayer is a ritual you do before engaging in an enterprise. No wonder even armed robbers pray before embarking on their nefarious activities. We often forget that “God detests the prayers of a person who ignores the law” (Proverbs 28:9 NLT). Living in sin denies the sinner the
right to claim the promises of God in prayer (Psalm 50:16-18). The only acceptable prayer of the sinner is the prayer of repentance.

While the prayer of those who ignore the laws of God is detested, the prayer of the righteous is a delight to God (Proverbs 15:8). Angel Gabriel said that a command was given by God the moment Daniel began to pray. When the
answer was delayed, support was raised because Daniel was greatly beloved by God. We know how Daniel got to this level of relationship with God: he was completely sold out to pleasing God. He was disciplined and would not defile
himself (Daniel 1:8), he communicated regularly with God in prayer and was a man of integrity trusted by kings. He read and applied the scriptures to real life problems.

God wants us to be like Daniel. He wants to delight in us. As you go about your business today, be sure that you communicate regularly with God. Let the word of God become the measure of your success and actions. Be an active
ambassador of Jesus in all you do.

Prayer Points
1. Lord, help me to apply Your word to everything I do.
2. Lord, help me to love You more and more.
