Text: Isaiah 40:26-31
Memory Verse: “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength” (Isaiah 40:29).
Seun was tired. He had tried hard to be good and earn the respect and approval he so badly wanted, but had failed again. Why could he not control his emotions and temper for once? Why was he like his father? Though he was not an alcoholic like him, he seemed to have inherited his terrible temper notwithstanding that he had given his life to Christ.
God made a perfect man in His own image, but satan and sin came in (Genesis 1:26 &27;3). They tainted God’s creation resulting in imperfections in the best of men. This must have prompted Randy Travis’ song:
1 I am weak but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
Chorus: Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
2 Thro’ this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
3 When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.
Thankfully, a perfect God reached down to imperfect man, creating a bridge by the untainted blood of His Son Jesus. By His grace, you can overcome your imperfections and stand right before Him regardless of whatever you are struggling with.
Prayer Points:
1. I need Your help to overcome my imperfections, O Lord.
2. Guide me through life, O great Jehovah.
