Text: Philippians 3:12-14
Memory Verse: “l press towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3: 14).
Every successful athlete knows the euphoric feeling that comes with winning a race; the overwhelming sense of joy and relief that follows the attainment of a hard-earned medal. The motivation to achieve that prize fuels hours of disciplined practice and strict exercise, with the goal always in sight. For an athlete, keeping the prize in view is a crucial aspect of staying focused and dedicated.
Similarly, as a Christian, it is vital for you to keep “the prize of the high calling of God” always before you. This is the key to victory in your Christian journey and faith. The ultimate prize is to reign with Christ, and in order to obtain it, you must live each day with determination and single-mindedness, fully committed to Him. You must not allow yesterday’s failures, disappointments, or even successes to cloud your vision for today. Each new day is an opportunity to press toward the mark, striving to win the prize.
Adopting this mindset by letting go of the past and focusing on what lies ahead helps you overcome the inevitable challenges you face as a Christian (Hebrews 12:2). It enables you to maintain your focus on the ultimate goal of your faith.
Take inspiration from the Lord Jesus Christ, who stayed focused on His mission on earth to die for sinners and attained the ultimate victory. His grace will empower you to stay focused on the kingdom and persevere in your Christian race.

1. O Lord, may each new day bring me fresh grace to keep my focus on the prize.
2. Lord, I receive power to put the past with its flaws and pains behind me.
