Matthew 5:14-16

Memory Verse:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Light is the absence of darkness. It illuminates your way so you can have Ldirection. With light, you are able to go anywhere without stumbling. Jesus said, “You are the light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14). As a Christian, you are expected to affect the world
around you positively. You must not agree with the world in ungodly things. You are to be the shining example of a child of God in your place of work, the market, school and family. You are a city that is set on a hill, it means that you cannot compromise.
As a shining light,
1. You cannot be quiet when you should speak up.
2. You should not ignore the needs of others.
3. You should not allow sin to dim your light.
4. You should not fail to share the light in you with others.
Being the light may not be easy, as you will sometimes be confronted by the evil one and be seen as the odd-man out. Light does not compromise; it changes situations. The world you need to affect includes your family, neighbours, church members, colleagues, co-workers. Evil must not thrive where you are, no matter the situation. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through
Christ that strengthens me.” As you go out there today, ask for the grace to be a shining light wherever you find yourself so that men will see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Go and shine for the Lord.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, I will shine for You.
2. Help me, O God, never to compromise in any of my dealings.
