Text: Psalm 24:1-10
Memory Verse: “Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.”(Psalm 24:9)
David said, “Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory? The LORD Almighty—he is the King of glory” (Psalm 24:9–10, NIV). Some ancient doors have bowed some peoples’ heads and kept them looking down perpetually. I learned something from my late father, he said whenever he had challenges, rather than place them up and look at them, he would throw them down and tread on them.
It is easy to go through life always looking back, focusing on what did not work out, who hurt you, or the mistakes you’ve made; these are ancient doors. As long as you are not looking up and are discouraged, with no joy, passion, or zeal, the King of glory will not come. As long as you are living in regret, you will not move ahead to the bright future God has in store for you. Understand that you cannot change what has happened to you in the past, but
you can do something about your now. Whether it happened a few minutes ago, recently or several years back, you need to let go of the depressing luggage from the past and start looking up to God (Psalm 121). When you are alive, hopeful, grateful, passionate, and productive by lifting up your head, the King of Glory, the Most High God, will come in and make a way where there is no way.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, thank You that I can lift my eyes to You and know You will come in.
2. Help me, Holy Spirit, to let go of the past and move forward in faith, knowing that my best days are ahead.
