Live To Please God – 1

Text: Genesis 17:1-8
Memory Verse: “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless” (Genesis 17:1).
God created you in His image and likeness, intending that your life would please Him and reflect His glory. Isaiah 43:21 says, “This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.” However, many people grieve God by living to please themselves. Such people
end up bringing unnecessary hardships upon themselves as God is not pleased with them.

Even at 99, God required Abram to walk blameless before Him. Take a moment to reflect on your own life. What will God’s verdict be over you? What will He remember you for? How does God regard you, and how pleasing is your daily life to Him? If God were to recommend you, what would He say? To be pleasing and acceptable to God, it is essential to live righteously in all aspects of life. Your inner thoughts should align with God’s righteousness. God loves righteousness and hates evil. It is for this reason that He anointed Jesus with the oil of gladness above His fellows (Hebrews 1:9).

Your words should be pure and without deceit. To stand before God’s throne, you must be faultless
and without guile in your mouth (Revelation 14:5). Your actions should demonstrate righteousness and reverence for God.
Truly, God is no respecter of persons. The only person He accepts in every nation is the one who fears Him and works righteousness (Acts 10:34&35). You must please God by reflecting His righteousness in all you think, say, and do.

Prayer Points:
1. Holy Spirit, please help me to live a life that is pleasing to God.
2. Lord, let the words of my mouth, the meditations of my heart and my actions be acceptable to You always.
