Text: 1 Thessalonians 4:1-10
Memory Verse: “Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God” (1 Thessalonians 4:1).
Have you ever created something? Maybe a drawing, a paper toy, a pot of soup, a building, or a dress. Or perhaps someone made a table, chair, or bookshelf for you. When creating something, you usually have a goal or expectation in mind, hoping it will turn out well and serve its
purpose. You want what you create to meet your expectations, and there is a sense of satisfaction when it does (Isaiah 43:7).
Similarly, God, the Master Potter, created you with a purpose, and He has expectations for you to fulfill. 1 Thessalonians 4:1-10 offers practical ways you can live to please Him and meet His expectations:
1. Live holy by staying away from all sexual sins.
2. Control your body and passion. Do not live like unbelievers.
3. Do not harm or cheat a fellow Christian by violating his or her spouse.
4. Do not reject God by disobeying His rules.
5. Love one another.
6. Live a quiet life, minding your own business.
7. Do not be lazy. Work with your own hands so you will not depend on others.
Living a life that pleases God should be the primary goal of every believer, as it aligns with the very reason God created us. We are not just here to exist, but to fulfill His divine purpose in our lives.
Obeying God’s commands brings peace and favour, both with Him and with others. When your life is pleasing to God, He blesses you with fulfillment and protection.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me to keep my eyes focused on You and Your word so I can live
to please You in all things.
2. Help me, Holy Spirit, not to fall short of God’s expectation of my life.
