Prosperity Without God

Text: Psalm 37: 8-17
Memory Verse: “A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked” (Psalm 37:16).

Seeing those who do not honour God living in prosperity and great affluence, has often made believers question their values. Does God truly honour righteousness? Is He watching? We live at a time when prosperity is often used as the yardsticks for both spiritual and physical well-being. Many now equate being blessed with how much one has materially. This mindset pressurizes some believers into compromising their faith, forming ungodly alliances and securing business deals through dishonest means. They forget Proverbs 8:21, “That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasuries,” and Proverbs 10:22 which says, “The blessing of the Lord, it makes one rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.”

True and lasting wealth comes from God. Even in difficult seasons, He alone gives riches that bring peace, not pain. The prosperity God provides is both spiritual and material, anchored in righteousness and free from regret. It takes faith and patience to wait for divine provision until our change comes. Every shortcut to wealth outside of God’s will is a slippery path that ends in ruin (Proverbs 14:12).

Moreover, unbelievers who seem to flourish have no assurance of God’s peace, and their wealth cannot save them in this life, and certainly not in eternity. Remember this; it is far better to be content with the little that comes from God than to envy the wicked, whose prosperity is fleeting and whose end is destruction.

Prayer points:
1. Father, thank You for the provisions You have given to me and my family. May I be content with them.
2. O God, I repent from any ungodly means through which I have made riches.
