Text: Hebrew 11:1-3,8-12
Memory Verse: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony” (Hebrews 11:1&2).
Faith is believing in God and His Word. No one can truly know or walk Faith God without this foundational trust. The Bible opens with the declaration, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). You either accept this by faith or reject it. That is why Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”Faith must be put into action to be considered genuine. We see several steps of faith demonstrated by Abraham, the Father of faith. He obeyed God’s command to set out for an unknown destination; trusting God’s sovereignty over his future. He lived as a stranger in the land promised to him, showing patience and confidence in God’s timing. His expectations rested completely on God’s capacity to fulfill His promises.
Despite years of childlessness, Abraham remained hospitable and generous; his faith and obedience hastened the fulfillment of God’s promise. He believed God could still give them a child even when both he and Sarah were far beyond childbearing age. Finally, he offered that promised child as a sacrifice, believing that the God who gave Isaac from a “dead” womb could bring him back to life. This is unwavering, tested faith in action.
Oh, for a faith like Abraham’s; one that does not waver in the face of adversity, but holds firmly to God’s Word, trusting Him to do the impossible, again and again. Do you yearn for such faith like Abraham’s, why not pray for it? God will grant it to you.
Prayer Points:
1. Confess your fears to God and believe Him.
2. Father, I desire the encounter that will bring about real faith in my life.
