Reasons for Christ Coming

Text: Luke 24:44-48
Memory Verse: “Then He said to them, ‘Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day” (Luke 24:46).

The reasons for Christ’s coming, His suffering, His death, and His resurrection on the third day are clearly stated in Luke 24:47 – repentance and remission of sins. This is the heart of the gospel. And we, as His followers, are called to preach this message in His name among all
nations. Christ has made us His witnesses of His redemptive work; not spectators, not performers.

Being a child or minister of God is not for status, popularity, or spiritual pride. It is not so we can boast, “I’m a child of a great God!” While it is true that our God is great, His greatness in our lives must reflect in our obedience to His call to witness about why He came.

Unfortunately, today many ministers focus solely on preaching about material blessings – breakthroughs, wealth, and prosperity. While these are, indeed, part of God’s covenant blessings, they are not the core message. The priority of our witness must be repentance and forgiveness of sins (Matthew 28:19, 20). This message is to be preached in His name, Jesus; not in the name of any man, ministry, or denomination. We are not called to promote personalities, but to proclaim Christ crucified and risen.

Are you a minister of the gospel of God? Then reflect deeply: What are you witnessing about, and in whose name? Is it truly about repentance and remission of sins, or have you been distracted? Return to the core of the gospel today.

Prayer Points:
1. Thank You, Jesus, for coming to grant us repentance and remission of our sins.
2. Father, give us the grace to go out in Your name, witnessing the reasons for Your coming.
