The Blessings of Zebulun and Issachar

Text: Deuteronomy 33:18-19
Memory Verse: “They shall call the peoples to the mountain; There they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness” (Deuteronomy 33:19a).
ssachar was Leah’s fifth son, and Zebulun, her sixth. When Zebulun was Iborn, Leah declared, “God has presented me with a precious gift. This time my husband will treat me with honour, because I have borne him six sons” (Genesis 30:20).

His name means “dwelling” or “honour”, signifying a special place of recognition. Despite their lineage, Zebulun and Issachar often practiced partial obedience to God. The Bible, especially the Psalms, repeatedly highlights God’s patience, love, and faithfulness towards His people. Their history serves as a reminder that God is always ready to restore us, no matter how far we have strayed. Regardless of past mistakes or failures, God can still use us for His divine purpose.

Moses linked Zebulun and Issachar in their prophetic destiny. Their proximity to Sidon made them active in trade and fishing, establishing commercial ties with the Phoenicians. Moses prophesied: “…for they shall partake of the abundance of the seas” (Deuteronomy 33:19). This was fulfilled as they became skilled merchants and seafarers.

As believers, when we turn to God in full obedience, we too will partake in His abundant blessings. Zebulun and Issachar’s stories teach us that our past does not disqualify us from God’s grace. He is always willing to restore and bless those who return to Him wholeheartedly. If we remain faithful, we will partake in the abundance of God’s provision. Our God is the Creator of heaven and earth, He’s the Jehovah Jireh, He will surely meet us at the point of our needs.

Prayer Points:
1. Thank God for His provisions for your family.
2. Lord, grant me the grace to obey You fully in all areas of life.
