Text: Matthew 14:22-31
Memory Verse: “But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, ‘Lord, save me!’” (Matthew 14:30).
The tree that God forbade man to eat from bore fruit with a mysterious quality; a single kind of fruit, yet one that carried profound spiritual consequences. The devil intentionally did not tell Eve this, nor did he reveal that ‘knowing evil’ also meant becoming vulnerable.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit. The consequences were immediate and deeply personal. They experienced a shift inside themselves. Suddenly, they felt emotions they had never known before: shame, guilt, and fear. Their eyes were opened, not in a good way, but in a way that made them feel exposed and vulnerable. For the first time, they were afraid of God; not with reverence, but with the kind of fear that makes you want to run and hide. That moment marked the beginning of humanity’s separation from God”
Locked within the human DNA, fear incapacitates man, taking various forms like dreading ‘evil people’ or avoiding anything mathematical in school. F=Fatal ; E=Emotions; A=Arising from a; R=Revelation .
Fear is destructive. It pulls us away from the supernatural life God calls us to and traps us in a mindset limited to human weakness and powerlessness. As Hebrews 2:15 explains, fear enslaves people, keeping them in lifelong bondage. But it doesn’t stop there. Fear can also lead us into sin, because it often grows out of doubt—and doubt is the opposite of faith. Romans 14:23 says that anything not done in faith is sin. That means fear, when left unchecked, can separate us from God.
Prayer Points:
1. Dear Father, may the consciousness of Your supreme personality override the manifestation of fear erupting from my DNA.
2. Loving Father, please help me pursue the truth from Your Spirit, not the facts that promote doubts.
