Proverbs 30:29&30
Memory Verse:
“A lion, which is mighty among beasts, And does not turn away from any” (Proverbs 30:30).
The lion in its natural habitat is a big eater and can hunt during storms. TIt lives in the grassland, dense scrub and open woodland. Lions hunt in groups and this enables them to kill animals that are bigger than themselves. They have no fear and symbolise courage, nobility, royalty, strength, stateliness and valour (Isaiah 31:4). There is a fake lion who moves around ceaselessly, looking for someone to devour, about whom the Bible warns us in 1 Peter 5:8. He dealt so harshly with Job and would have killed him but for the fact that God did not permit him to. Like the natural lion that crouches in the grass and jumps on its victim unexpectedly, the devil is crafty, watching for the unguarded moments of the believer. You must be on the alert and not allow him to deprive you of the mansion waiting for you in heaven.
Jesus is the Lion of Judah. He is our defender, the burden-bearer and the Captain of the Lord’s hosts. He has triumphed over temptations and sin; pain and suffering; fear and death; and over the devil. He created the lions so the characteristics and qualities found in Him are more than those of the natural lion.
All these qualities have been transferred to believers and this is why John 16:33 is so relevant to Christians. We will have peace and rejoice because the Lion of the tribe of Judah has overcome the world.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me not to be swept away by the deceit of the devil.
2. Let my whole life be spent in praising the Lion of the tribe of Judah, Who made me an overcomer.
