Text: 1 Samuel 10:17-25, 1 Peter 2:9
Memory Verse: “Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house” (1 Samuel 10:25).
Every kingdom operates by principles, and God’s kingdom is no Eexception. In 1 Samuel 10:25, Samuel wrote in a book the “manner of the kingdom” and laid it before the Lord, setting clear guidelines for how Israel was to live under a king’s rule. Similarly, God has provided us with His instructions throughout Scripture for righteous and holy living. In the Old Testament, the Ten Commandments offered a moral compass. In the New Testament, Jesus fulfilled the law and summarised it into two commands: “You shall love the Lord your God… and your neighbour as yourself” (Matthew 22:37–39).
But God’s expectations go beyond laws; they reflect a lifestyle. From Genesis to Revelation, we see a call to transformation. We are no longer to conform to the world (Romans 12:2).
The primary mark of kingdom living is the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, and more. Just as nations have recognisable traits, believers should be identified by godly character. 1 Peter 2:9 reminds us that we are a chosen generation and royal priesthood, set apart to reflect God’s glory. Does your character reflect godliness and Christ’s presence within? Do your words and actions reflect kingdom values? The fruit of the Spirit is not optional; it is evidence of the Holy Spirit being within. Embrace the manner of the kingdom and let your life shine as a testimony of Christ in you.
Prayer Points:
1. Heavenly Father, help me to embody the mannerisms of Your kingdom by bearing the fruits of the Spirit in my daily life.
2. Lord, transform my heart and renew my mind so that my actions, words, and character reflect Your glory.
