Text: Psalm 1:1-6
Memory Verse: “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful” (Psalm 1:1).

As a righteous person living among sinful and ungodly people who neither know nor fear God, do you ever feel truly comfortable? Or do you find your soul vexed, grieved, or burdened by the evil deeds and ungodly practices that happen around you? Like the righteous Lot in Sodom, who was “vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked” , we too can be surrounded by darkness, yet remain unstained by it (2 Peter 2:7).

It is possible to live among evil men without being influenced by their wickedness; instead, you can influence them by your lifestyle. A line from a popular hymn says: “Brighten the corner where you are!” Someone far from Jesus may behold your light afar. You are called to shine as light in the midst of darkness.

To achieve this, you must take heed to yourself. Remain in constant fellowship with God. Guard your prayer life jealously and never joke with the study and meditation of God’s Word. With the help of the Holy Spirit, your spiritual disciplines will preserve you from compromise and help you stay anchored in righteousness.

Make Christ your daily focus. Yield yourself continually to the Holy Spirit’s guidance and live by His instructions. In these perilous times, determine not to participate in the evil happening around you. Rather, resolve to be a godly influence; salt in a tasteless world and light in dark places. Let your life boldly and unashamedly preach Christ to everyone around you.

Prayer Points:
1. Dear Lord, help me to brighten the corner where I am.
2. Father, help the church to shine her light that the world may know you through us.
