Text: John 14:15-24
Memory Verse:“He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me” (John 14:24 KJV).
The sayings of Christ Jesus are sacrosanct and worth receiving by all and sundry. Sometimes, both Pharisees and Publicans were willing to hear His teaching, but they were unwilling to practise the word because they loved darkness and deception more than light. One of the disciples named Judas (not Judas Iscariot), said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?” (John 14:22). Jesus responded, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him” (John 14:23).
This implies that He will only reveal Himself to those who heed His saying, those who are living in accordance with the Father’s will. Obedience to God’s word will make you to be one with the Lord. You must know that anyone who does not love you will not do what you say, even if it is the truth. Similarly, anyone who does not love Jesus Christ will not obey His saying, even though His words are not His own, but a message from the Father who sent Him. The true mark or evidence of your love for Jesus
Christ is known through your obedience to His word. Many love the practice of iniquity rather than living in righteousness. If you really love Him, do not reject His teaching, or tag it as hard (John 6:60). Observe and obey it faithfully.
Prayer Points:
1. Holy Spirit, help me to daily observe and obey the sayings of Christ Jesus without reservation.
2. Lord, may I not live in partial obedience, like King Saul did, and lose my connection to Jesus.
