The Spirit Of Thanksgiving 2

Text: Psalm 34:1-10

Memory Verse: “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ
Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

David was a man who had the spirit of thanksgiving. In everything, he always gave thanks to God, being thoughtful of God’s dealings and doings in his life. In Psalm 34 we see him declaring that he will bless the Lord at all times and His praise shall continually be in his mouth because of the numerous things God had done for him, which include deliverance, answered prayers, protection, provisions and goodness of God. No matter how small the gifts you receive, give thanks. Do not let any kindness go unappreciated. Respond immediately and with full praise for
another’s thoughtfulness. God’s giving deserves your thanksgiving. So, do not let a day go by without expressing gratitude to God, Who has poured out priceless and countless gifts upon you (2 Corinthians 9:15). Never take any act
of kindness for granted. Many teenagers and youths have an entitlement mentality. This should be discouraged and corrected. Children should be taught to be appreciative.

It is important to look back and consider some obstacles like health challenges, financial concerns, strained relationships, etc. you have overcome with God’s help. Instead of petitioning God for solutions to new problems, thank Him for His part in solving past ones. According to President Abraham Lincoln, “it is the duty of nations as well as of men to owe their dependence upon the overruling power of God.”
You have many God-given riches for which to be thankful. Take time today to offer your thanks to God.

Prayer Points:
1. Gracious God, I appreciate you for your goodness and mercy, and for answered prayers.
2. Lord, deliver me from the spirit of ingratitude.
