The True Reward of Life

Text: Matthew 19: 27-29
Memory Verse: “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life”(Matthew 19:29).

A reward is something given in return for good behaviour, service or a noble act. The Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages” (1 Timothy 5:18). This verse reflects God’s principle of justice. He delights in rewarding faithful service.

God has promised a glorious reward for those who make it into His eternal Kingdom. While there are rewards on earth such as recognition, promotion, or financial gain, these are all temporary. Athletes receive medals, teams lift trophies and workers earn wages. But as Christians, we must set our goals higher, striving for the reward that is eternal, “a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17). The eternal reward requires diligence and a lifestyle aligned with God’s will. It involves walking in obedience,
maintaining a strong relationship with God, living in purity, persevering in prayer and boldly witnessing for Christ.

Jesus Christ, our Righteous Judge, has promised crowns for the faithful: the crown of life, incorruptible crown, crown of rejoicing and crown of glory. These are reserved for those who endure trials, win souls, remain steadfast in service and walk in holiness.

Let your daily life be shaped by the hope of this reward. Do not live for the temporary applause of men. Live with eternity in view. Prepare to meet your God; He is coming soon, and “His reward is with Him” (Revelation 22:12).

Prayer Points:
1. Father, please help me to live a life that is pleasing and acceptable to You.
2. Father, please help me not to lose my reward in heaven
