Text: Luke 7:36-48
Memory Verse: “Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little” (Luke 7:47).

Today’s story is about a woman overwhelmed by gratitude. Her actions teaches us that sometimes saying “Thank You, Lord” is not enough. She went the extra mile—bringing a significant, heartfelt token of appreciation to the Master. Her offering was her most prized possession: an expensive, exotic perfume. It was the very best she had, and she poured it out in worship.

Her gratitude was not just in the gift, but in her emotions. Weeping at Jesus’ feet, she expressed genuine love and deep humility. Though foot washing was common in Jewish tradition, she chose to wash the Saviour’s feet with her tears and dry them with her hair. The entire room was filled with the fragrance of her offering, an aroma of sincere thanksgiving that still speaks today.

Scripture is filled with similar examples of extravagant gratitude: David desired to build the most magnificent temple ever, to honour God for making him king. Hannah fulfilled her vow by dedicating Samuel back to God, a profound act of thanksgiving (1 Samuel 1:27&28). Solomon offered a recordbreaking number of sacrifices out of a heart of gratitude (2 Chronicles 7:5). Noah built an altar to the Lord after the flood as an expression of worship and thanks.

Yet the highest form of gratitude is not material. According to Romans 12:1&2, it is the total surrendering of your life as a living sacrifice. That is the offering God desires most, a life poured out in gratitude and obedience to Him.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, I rededicate myself to You today.
2. Lord, give me a grateful heart.
