Tribulation Is Part of Christian Life 2

Text: Isaiah 43:1-3
Memory Verse: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you” (Isaiah 43:2).

Rest assured, tribulation in one form or another is inevitable for every believer in Christ Jesus. Settle this in your heart. One can almost hear someone respond, “I reject that; it is not my portion in Jesus’ name.” Such a declaration may sound spiritual, but it often reflects a lack of preparedness for the Christian journey. Take a moment to analyse our memory verse. The keyword is when, not if. “If” implies probability, but “when” implies certainty. It is not a question of whether trials will come or not, but when they will come.

Search the scriptures and you will see that this truth holds firm. Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself endured a shameful death on the cross on false charges. Paul suffered intense persecution. Likewise, other early apostles were beaten, imprisoned, and executed for the sake of the gospel. The first man who translated the Bible into English was burned at the stake. Christianity has always come at a price. 1 Thessalonians 3:4 reminds us, “…We told you before … that we would suffer tribulation…”

Jesus never sugar-coated discipleship. He clearly stated, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me” (Luke 9:23). Carrying a cross daily is not easy; it speaks of sacrifice, endurance, and surrender.

Remember, however, that if eternity with Christ is the prize, then whatever the cost, it is more than worth it. Be prepared. Stand firm. The glory ahead outweighs today’s pain.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, give me the right mindset for the Christian race.
2. Lord Jesus, I put my hand in Your hand; let me not fail as You did not fail.
