Text: Hebrews 5:12-14
Memory Verse: “But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14).
If you truly desire to grow and make progress in your Christian journey, you must intentionally work on your spiritual appetite. One of the key reasons many believers remain weak, inconsistent, or stunted in their faith is because their appetite for heavenly nourishment has diminished. Other
interests such as worldly pleasures, distractions, and carnal pursuits slowly take over the heart and dull spiritual hunger.
Why do mothers sometimes force-feed their children? Because they understand that without proper nourishment, their children will become sickly, frail, and vulnerable. The same applies to the Christian life. Spiritual growth hinges on what you feed your soul. The Word of God is your bread of
life, and the Holy Spirit is your living water (John 6:35, 7:38). You must eat the Word and drink deeply of the Spirit to thrive.
Just as food is ineffective without water, so also does the Word require the life-giving power of the Holy Spirit to be digested and transformed into strength. The Spirit quickens the Word in your heart, illuminating truth and empowering obedience. You cannot survive on crumbs or occasional bites. You must feed voraciously on truth and drink abundantly of the Spirit.
So, how is your appetite? How much time are you devoting to the Word? How often do you drink in the Spirit through worship, prayer, and surrender? There is no shortcut to spiritual growth. Eat and drink daily, and grow strong in faith and power.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, increase my appetite for Your word.
2. Holy Spirit, please fill me with insight and understanding as l devour Your word.
