Genesis 17:1-4
Memory Verse:
“When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless”(Genesis 17:1).
Live blameless? Be perfect? Is that possible? God seemed to have been asking Abram to do the impossible! Can anyone live blameless? An irreproachable life free from guilt? If God requested it, it must be possible. Jesus said this about living right in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is
impossible, but with God all things are possible.” As you walk before God, depend on Him for strength to think right and live right. The insight into what is right and wrong comes from His word, the Bible and from the Holy Spirit. He gives the strength to withstand temptations and
to remain focused. He also gives the grace to ignore the accusations of the devil and resist him (1 Corinthians 10:13). Does this mean you will never sin? Abraham had fallen into sin in his search for
a child before this encounter with God and we know that David who walked with God also sinned. Neither of them however lived in sin and you must not too. When you sin inadvertently, repent quickly and move on like David did.
Do not allow guilty feelings to hold you down. Leave the things you cannot change and lean on God’s grace for the future. It is before God that you fall or stand. Paul said, “Not that I have already
attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me…I press towards the goal” (Philippians 3:12-14). Are you pressing on towards perfection? You are able by God’s grace.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, please help me to press forward.
2. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
