Who Is Your Companion?

Text: Psalm 16:1-9
Memory Verse: “I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved” (Psalm 16:8).

During our school days, we had a handy English textbook called Students’ Companion. We were encouraged to make it our constant companion, as it was believed to enhance our knowledge. Similarly, many people today seek companionship in various places, often to fill the
knowledge or other gaps in their lives. The Scripture has shown us, however, that the best and most reliable companion a person can have is God Almighty Himself.

The Psalmist reminds us of the importance of acknowledging God as Lord over our lives. We must regard Him as our Senior Partner, seeking His guidance daily and delighting in His Word. Living in companionship with God requires you to come to Jesus, take His yoke upon you, and learn from Him (Matthew 11:28-30).

God, as your Senior Partner, is all-knowing, all-powerful, and rich in wisdom and mercy. When you depend on Him wholeheartedly, He provides the grace to handle life’s responsibilities. Like the Psalmist, you must set the Lord before you and make Him your greatest possession. There is no greater inheritance than God Himself.

Walking in companionship with God brings many benefits. He reveals His plans to you, as He did to Abraham (Genesis 18:17). Deep fellowship with Him guarantees divine direction, peace, protection, joy, and eternal life. Conversely, those who walk in companionship with the devil will reap troubles, regret, and pain. Is the Lord your best companion? If not, make Him one today, so you can enjoy the lasting benefits of His companionship.

Prayers Points:
1. Lord, help me to set You before me always.
2. Lord, help me to value Your companionship more than earthly possessions.
