A Closed Mouth, A Closed Destiny

Text: Matthew 20:29-34
Memory Verse: “And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, ‘Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!’” (Matthew 20:30).

Two blind men were sitting by the roadside when they heard that Jesus was passing by. Immediately, they cried out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted even louder. Jesus stopped and called them, asking, “What do you want me to do for you?” They replied, “Lord, we want our sight.” Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes, and they received their sight instantly.

We can learn several lessons from these two blind men; though blind, they were conscious of their environment. They recognised the moment of divine visitation; they believed that Jesus could heal them; they took steps toward their solution; they called out, despite being rebuked by the crowd; they persisted in seeking Jesus, though Jesus did not respond immediately, they kept shouting persistently until they got His attention (Ephesians 2:8).

Jesus is still asking today, “What do you want me to do for you?” Do not be silent or discouraged. Write down your requests. Go to Him in prayer and refuse to be denied. He restored their sight because they were persistent and expectant. He is still the same today, the God of all flesh, and nothing is too difficult for Him (Jeremiah 32:27). Do not deny yourself your miracle. Go boldly into His presence; He is ready to answer you (Isaiah 41:12). Your miracle is just a prayer away!

Prayer Points:
1. I remove everything in my life that prevents me from seeking the Lord’s attention.
2. My glorious destiny will not be thwarted.
