Text: John 5:1-8
Memory Verse: “Jesus said to him, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’” (John 5:8).
Change is a constant in life, but God remains unchanging. While everything around you shift, He remains the same, faithful and dependable. Whenever difficult situations encounter Jesus, transformation follows. Despite feeling isolated in your struggles, remember that God never abandons you. His promise stands firm: “…He will not leave you nor forsake you…” (Deuteronomy 31:8).
Marvin Williams, in the February 2011 edition of Our Daily Journey, wrote: “Jesus’ power can meet our deepest needs and renew our hopes—sometimes through natural means or by supernatural miracles.” Jesus not only heals physical ailments, He also addresses the root problem, which is sin (John 5:14).
The man with an infirmity in John’s Gospel seemed to be in a hopeless situation. For 38 years, he was unable to walk, and there appeared to be no help in sight. Yet, everything changed when he encountered Jesus, who commanded him to pick up his bed and walk; and, instantly, his deepest need was met by God’s unlimited power.
Just as the paralytic who was brought to Jesus by his friends was powerless to help himself, so is anyone who does not know Jesus. Such a person is spiritually paralysed. If your faith feels too weak to carry you to healing, the faith of Jesus and those around you are enough to bring you there (Mark 2:3-5). Trust in Him today and watch Him turn your seemingly hopeless situation around.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord Jesus, help my faithlessness.
2. Lord, help me to keep my eyes on You.
