Text: Luke 19:1-6
Memory Verse: “And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house’” (Luke 19:5).
Luke 19:3 says that Zacchaeus “sought to see who Jesus was.” Sought, is the past participle of seek, which means to try to find, to look for or to search for. God promises that “you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). Zacchaeus, a rich chief tax collector, was determined to see Jesus. He had a
major challenge – his short stature. His hunger was so deep, however, that ignoring his position and wealth, he did the unusual by climbing a tree. People probably mocked him for doing this, but he did not care. He caught Jesus’
attention and, more significantly, compelled His visitation; a visitation that brought salvation to Zacchaeus’ house and liberated him from the snare of greed and extortion.
Several years ago hunger for the truth drove me to a restlessness that made me abandon my work and everything else in search of a recommended Bible study centre. I found it, met the Lord’s presence in an unusual way, and my hunger was satisfied. 2 Chronicles 15:15 says that all Judah rejoiced for they had sworn with all their heart and sought God with all their soul; and He was found by them, and gave them rest all around. Zacchaeus sought Jesus with all his heart and found Him. I did too. Are you hungry enough for Him to seek Him with all your heart, find
a way around your limitation(s) and compel His visitation?
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, my soul hungers and thirsts for You.
2. Please help me to overcome every limitation in my life that hinders me from seeing You and compelling Your visitation.
