Text: Romans 12:1-3
Memory Verse: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).
Paul urges believers to present their bodies as a living sacrifice, which is a call to offer every aspect of our lives to God, just as a ritual sacrifice. Unlike a ritual sacrifice, however, we are to live out this devotion daily, surrender our own will to God’s will continuously. This means that we no longer own ourselves; we belong entirely to God, and our lives are centered on pleasing Him rather than conforming to the standards of this world.
The analogy of ritual sacrifice paints a vivid picture. Once the animal is given, the giver no longer has a say in what happens to it. Similarly, Though we are bought with a price and belong to God, we must still choose daily to surrender; offering our lives as living sacrifices, no longer steering our own destiny, but trusting Him to lead us in His perfect will. Instead, we must allow God to direct our steps, our decisions, and our way of life.
One keyway to fulfill this is by renewing our minds. This means rejecting worldly values and allowing God’s Word to transform the way we think, live, and interact with others. It requires humility—not thinking of ourselves more highly than we ought, as Paul writes—and a commitment to genuine love for others. This transformation helps us discern and follow God’s will in every situation.
Being a living sacrifice is not just about outward actions or rituals. It is about an inward transformation that touches every aspect of your life, living each day with a heart that desires to please God, and letting Him take the lead in everything you do.
Prayer Points:
1. O Lord, I surrender all my will to You.
2. Lord, may my life bring honour to You and draw others to You.
