Text: Matthew 5:14-16
Memory Verse: “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Believers are called upon to arise and shine for their light has come (Isaiah 60:1). This command is a call to manifest the light that God has placed within us to light up the world through our good works and righteous living. Matthew 7:20 reminds us that we are known by our fruits – the way we live, act, and relate with others. As believers, our lives are meant to reflect God’s glory in every sphere of life – family, workplace, or community.
The call to shine also means to show forth the potential and gifts which God has given you. Ephesians 1:18-23 speaks of the great inheritance and power available to us as God’s children, and we are expected to rise to the greatness that He has destined for us. Every gift inside of us is meant to serve His kingdom and bless others.
To truly shine, we must also declare our identity in Christ wherever we are. There should be no shame in being identified as a follower of Christ in any circumstance. Your integrity and godly character should set you apart wherever God has placed you. Your yes should be yes, and your no, no. This allows God’s light to shine through you.
God has equipped you with everything you need to reflect His glory. The world is watching, and it is time to rise up, use your gifts, and shine brightly for the Lord, so that the world may know that you belong to Christ.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, let my light shine for You everywhere I go.
2. Every obstacle to the shining of my light must give way now.
