Text: Psalm 91: 1-9
Memory Verse: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall
abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1).
When we were unassuming little children, we lived unaware of the world’s wickedness. We survived in life not because of the care we received from our parents, but because God kept us. Unknowingly, we may, at some points, have crawled around enemies, who would have carried us in their arms and beheld us with their evil eyes. Yet we
were secured by the Almighty. Unfortunately, as we grew older, we became conscious of the danger and evil around us and began to feel insecure. Forgetting the God who had been our refuge from childhood, we began to look for protection elsewhere! This does not give glory to God; it is contemptuous to our Maker; an indirect way of telling Him that He is no longer concerned, powerful and able to deliver. Wefoolishly subject ourselves to a greater level of insecurity and danger by seeking help elsewhere.
There is no other name under heaven, on earth and beneath the earth by which man could be saved, except the name of Jesus. Only those who dwell in the secret place of the most high can abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Are you weak? He gives power to the weak. Do you lack might? He increases the strength of those without might (Isaiah 40:28-31). Are you poor? He gives power to make wealth. Colossians 3:3 tells us that our lives are hidden with Christ in God. This is true for only those who genuinely abide in Him.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, please forgive me for making You small in my life.
2. Lord, I hide myself in You, keep me safe and protect me from all evil.
