Text: Psalm 13:1-6

Memory Verse: “But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me” (Psalm 13:5 &? 6).

After David was anointed king, it took about twenty years before he was eventually crowned ruler over all Judah and Israel (1 Chronicles 12:23-40). During the period of his preparation, he faced many challenges within and without. He had to hide in caves and mountains to save his life from Saul despite having been anointed king. In his travail, he
began questioning God, “How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?” (Psalm 13:1).

Many believers, like David, are questioning God over our situations – unhealthy marriages, crawling businesses, stagnant careers, joblessness, pains and agonies to the extent of allowing their challenges – to take control of their
lives. Worse still, their predicament has succeeded in dissuading many from the belief that God still hears prayers. Whatever the case, you must remember that the scripture says that if you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small (Proverbs 24:10). Notice that, despite David’s long list of queries, he still expressed his trust in God. Your
seemingly horrible situation is not a sign that God has forgotten or forsaken you, rather it is your own wilderness experience. After every wilderness, there is a promised land.

God is faithful and just, and will fulfil His promise for your life. Only be strong and of good courage. Do not allow depression, sadness and weariness overtakes you. You have His promises hanging over you, and He cannot lie.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, I pray that You will comfort me and give me grace to trust in You always.
2. Lord, I pray that the challenges of life will not sweep me away. Please give me strength to stand strong in the day of adversity.
