Text: Acts 20:17-28
Memory Verse: “Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men” (Acts 20:26).
One of the major imperatives of our calling as believers-in-Christ is to examine ourselves from time to time. When you are saved, the Holy Spirit gives you a heart that can comprehend the love of God and do His will. You no longer depend on self-effort, but receive grace to be who God wants you to be. The devil is, however, not happy. He tries to remind the believer of his past from time to time, and even lures him into his old way of life.
This is where continuous self-examination comes in (2 Corinthians 13:5). Paul, the apostle, gave us a good example of stewardship and accountability to one another. Do not wait until you are called upon, before giving an account.
The biggest asset entrusted to Christians is the soul of men whose paths cross ours in life. While you are to care for their physical well-being, the state of their souls and spiritual welfare must be your primary concern. Being aware of the terror of God’s judgement, you must persuade men to be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:10-12). The Church is not a society, but the body that Christ purchased with His blood. Allowing self-dominance in Christ’s body is like trampling under our feet the precious blood with which we have been redeemed (Hebrews 10:29). As a member of Christ’s body be ready to give an account of your stewardship always. Also, encourage your co-labourers to do the same.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, give me the spirit of a true and faithful steward.
2. Lord, help me to be accountable to You and my co labourers in Christ.
