Text: Luke 21:16-19
Memory Verse: “By your patience possess your souls” (Luke 21:19).
Impatience is the irritation or frustration we feel when faced with delays, difficulties, or the shortcomings of others. It is an intense eagerness for something to happen, often something we believe should happen now. But here is the irony: if it is truly going to happen soon, why the rush? Why the anxiety? Why the inability to wait? Impatience is deceptive. It pushes us to make hasty decisions, overlook key details, and miss out on valuable lessons. Proverbs 19:2 says, “Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge, And he sins who hastens with his feet.” Impatient people often hurt themselves; not because of what they wait for, but because of how they wait.
To overcome impatience, the first step is awareness. Admit you struggle with impatience and face it honestly. Next, lean on the Holy Spirit. One of the fruits He produces in believers is patience (Galatians 5:22) but He will not force it, you must cooperate with Him. This means surrendering control, adjusting your expectations, and trusting God’s perfect timing.
Also, learn to be present. Many people are so obsessed with what is coming ext that they fail to appreciate what God is doing now. Do not rush through today chasing tomorrow. Every moment has a purpose. Even in delays, there is something to learn, something to gain, and someone to become. Be still. Let patience have its perfect work in you (James 1:4). You will find that God’s timing is not just perfect, it is also worth the wait.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, in Your mercy, please restore everything impatience has destroyed in my life.
2. Lord, please deal with the root of impatience in me.
