Text:
2 Chronicles 2: 1-10
Memory Verse:
“Therefore send me at once a man skillful to work in gold and silver, in bronze and iron, in purple and crimson and blue, who has skill to engrave with the skillful men who are with me in Judah and Jerusalem, whom David my father provided” (2 Chronicles 2:7).
Skill means ability or technical know-how or expertise in a field. Being skillful is individual dexterity in execution or performance of a task. The whole world is looking for skillful men who can bring solutions and cause a lifting or bring profit to organisations (Proverbs 22:29). Being skillful does not drop on people’s laps, it is learned over time and has to be improved upon.
A young boy learnt tailoring from a man who did not improve on what he knew. The young boy improved on what he was taught, and it was just a matter of time before people deserted the master and began to patronise him. A few weeks after the young boy had become a household name, the master packed up the tailoring business while the young boy continued to enjoy the benefit of
being skillful and diligent.
Solomon contacted Huram, king of Tyre, to get him a skillful man (2 Chronicles 2:3-7). The man Huram was not allowed to return empty handed. He went back with profit as promised by Solomon. In every area of your vocation, occupation or trade, dare to be skillful and be the best. You will never operate from below or among non entities because your gift and skill will make
a way for you (Proverbs 18:16). Improve, learn, unlearn, relearn, advance, keep moving, be up to date, do not be content with your level of knowledge. Research, read wide (readers are leaders). Let God help you because He is the one who teaches our hands to make profit.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, help me to be the best You want me to be.
2. O Lord, teach my hands to make profit and also help me to use my skill to further the advancement of Your kingdom.
