Dont Allow Success Get Into Your Head

Text:
2 Chronicles 26:3-5, 13-21

Memory Verse:
“But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction” (2 Chronicles 26:16).

Success in life is very good; progress, promotions and attaining a height are very good and nice. When we succeed, we feel proud of ourselves, but we might feel that we are above everyone else. In fact, all sensible beings associate themselves with success and successful people. It is said that “success has many families.” If the successful person is not careful, that might mark the beginning of his fall.
Uzziah became king when he was sixteen years old and became very successful and mighty. At the beginning of his reign, he was very humble and sought after God. As long as he sought after God, He made him prosper in all things. At a point, he became very popular and people were singing his praise just like they did of David after he killed Goliath (1 Samuel 18:6-8; 2 Chronicles 26:8).
He invented many engines, his successes, unfortunately, turned him into a proud man, and his heart was lifted to his destruction (2 Chronicles 26:16). He transgressed against God and began to misbehave to the extent that he went into the temple to burn incense, taking on an assignment reserved for only the priests! Sadly, when he was corrected, he became annoyed and as he raved, God struck him with leprosy.
When successful, you must remain humble and be grateful to all those who helped you attain the current status. The moment you allow your successes to get into your head, though you feel that nothing can touch or affect you, you will begin to go down.

Prayer Points:
1. Father, may I be marvellously helped by You.
2. No matter the height of success I attain in life, Holy Spirit, please, let me never become full of myself.
