Contending For Your Blessings

Text:
Isaiah 54:1-4

Memory Verse:
“Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not laboured with child!” (Isaiah 54:1a).

Isaiah 54 starts with specific instructions for those expecting something from God.“Cry aloud; Enlarge the place of your tent; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left; Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be
disgraced, for you will not be put to shame.” These instructions give the impression that each one needs to do something and contend for one’s blessings. One could not remain a passive spectator. This reminds us of Isaac who kept digging wells till he got to Rehoboth (Genesis 26:19-22). He initially met with opposition but he was not deterred. He knew what he wanted and went after it. Are you easily discouraged? Hannah had reason to be because of Peninnah’s taunting. However, she kept praying till she got Samuel and, of course, many others.
Elijah kept praying till he got the cloud and indication that rain was on the way. At first there was nothing, but he kept praying and got an answer. The widow in Luke 18 would not let the unjust judge rest till she extracted the justice she deserved.
You cannot give up or be discouraged. You must contend for your blessings. Read the Bible for direction, pray and hold God to His word, seek medical help, get certified, seek godly counsel and seek fresh understanding. It is not over until it is over. As God leads you, go after your blessings till you have a testimony.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, please strengthen me in the place of prayer.
2. I will stand with You, Lord, till I receive every blessing You have earmarked for me.
