Text: Proverbs 31:1-7
Memory Verse: “Do not give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings” (Proverbs 31:3).
God created us to represent Him on earth. We are to bring forth His praise in all we say and do. One of the lies of the devil is that pursuing the mandate of God leads to a dull boring life. The devil deceived Eve with lies. He does the same thing today. Our conflicts, from both internal and external sources, derive from our pursuit of pleasures which could be deceptive (James 4:1). It is either sex, power, or money related.
Fortunately, we have control over these. We can either reign over them or yield to their dictates. Nothing can enslave a man without his consent. Lemuel’s mother counselled him: “Do not give your strength to women, nor your ways
to that which destroys kings…” (Proverbs 31:3). The relationships you cultivate and sustain will either build you up or bring you down. If your relationship is built on sexuality, you will amount to nothing. You will become bread for the perverse. Jesus made you a royalty (1 Peter 2:9). Be sober, cool headed and dignified. Never engage in self-destructive habits or anything that can make you lose your senses, or misbehave.
There are things others can do which are inappropriate for you, the royal priest of Jesus Christ (Proverbs 31:4-5). Others can talk carelessly, go naked and go anywhere. It is improper for you as a child of God to do anything that will hinder your service to Christ. Be conscious of who you represent.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help me to always remember that I am a royal priest unto Jesus.
2 Lord, keep me from destructive habits.
