Text: Job 1:9 -11, Ecclesiastes 10:8
Memory Verse: “He who digs a pit will fall into it, and whoever breaks through a wall will be beaten by a serpent” (Ecclesiastes 10:8).
There are many privileges that children of God enjoy, one of which is protection. Just like Job, every child of God has a hedge around him or her. This protection remains intact, as long as the hedge is in place. The Devil had to seek permission before he could attack Job, who had been under the protection of God for many years (Job 1:11&12).
It should be noted that the protection enjoyed by believers can be compromised in many ways. Among others, sin, carelessness and ignorance can lead to the penetration of the walls of protection around a believer. Once the hedge is broken, one is exposed to the antics of the enemy, who is seeking who to devour.
To maintain the hedge, the believer should abstain from sin and live a holy and righteous life. Remember that sin does not allow the grace of God to abound in the life of a Christian. You should do everything in your power to live and please the Lord God Almighty. Do not be carried away by the current events in the world that are in a race to ‘make it’. You should live a life of obedience and strive to please the Lord.
We live in a world that is marked by evil and there is pressure on believers to compromise their faith. Your soul is precious to God and you should guide your salvation diligently by living and pleasing Him in order to keep the hedge.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, grant me the grace to maintain the hedge around me.
2. Heavenly Father, protect me from every attack of the enemy.
