Text: Hebrews 12:1-10

Memory Verse: “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us
(Hebrews 12:1).

In Hebrews 12, Paul contrasts the life of a Christian with that of a marathon runner, which was so popular in those days as well as ours. He talks about Ithe spectators and the participants of the race, and Jesus Christ, who is
the author and finisher of our faith. The theme of the passage is the need for perseverance or endurance through trials and tribulation. We will have trial and tribulation in our Christian race. Endurance is a vital characteristic of a true Christian, and this is deeply rooted in biblical narrative. God does not promise us that we will never go through
tribulations in life as His children, but he requires us to trust in Him and endure.

We are encouraged as believers to endure hardship and persevere in our faith journey by keeping our focus on Jesus Christ. Just as those who have gone before us endured trials, we are called to do the same, knowing that our
endurance produces character and hope (Romans 5:3 & 4). In times of adversity, let us turn to God in prayer, seeking His strength and guidance, like Jesus did in Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-39). Prayer is a wonderful and powerful tool that strengthens our endurance and deepens our relationship with God. As we navigate life’s challenges, may we cling to the promise that those who endure until the end will be rewarded with eternal life in the presence of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Prayer Points
1. Heavenly Father, grant me the needed strength to endure all trials and tribulations with unwavering faith in You.
2. God, help me find comfort in Your word, so I can keep my eyes fixed on You.
