Text: Proverbs 3:1-6

Memory Verse: “In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:6).

Justin was unhappy and needed help to know what to do. Should he quit his job in protest of this unwarranted transfer to a remote part of the country? As a child of God he sought counsel from two godly men, his father in law
and his Pastor. Counsel is advice or guidance, especially as solicited from a knowledgeable person. The counsel you receive will depend largely on who you are because that will determine who you will seek counsel from. In Esther 2:10&15, Esther was satisfied with the counsel given her by the experienced Hegai, the King’s
eunuch. His counsel proved invaluable.

Rehoboam, on the other hand, was young, inexperienced and naive. He had the benefit of the wisdom of the elders who had served his father and who could feel the pulse of the people. Their wise counsel was discarded as ‘old school’ for the advice of his inexperienced friends who had nothing to lose. To make the right decision, acknowledge God and defer to Him. He will direct you to the right counsellor. Esther was divinely counselled while Rehoboam
was not. David, though wrongly counselled to kill King Saul, remembered and was guided by God’s word (1 Samuel 24:6&7). Do you read the Bible? Are you hiding the words in your heart so you can draw from them from time to time? After being counselled, you need God’s wisdom to decipher and do what is right. Trust Him and be led by Him.

Prayer Points:
1. May I be led by You continually, O God.
2. I will not go against godly counsel.
