Text: Proverbs 5:12&13
Memory Verse: “I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me!”(Proverbs 5:13).
Many today have developed itching ears, just as the Bible warned in 2 Timothy 4:3. People now crave teachings that suit their personal desires rather than the truth. Instructions drawn from sources outside the Word of God such as motivational speeches, personal experiences, distorted traditions, or even misinterpreted scriptures have been fashioned into acceptable patterns, models and mirrors to follow. Sadly, many of these lead to disobedience, moral compromise and rebellion against God.
There is only one instruction manual that God validates; the pure, undiluted Word of God. Proverbs 4:20–22 declares, “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”
Anytime you choose to follow instructions contrary to the Word, be it societal opinion, emotional reasoning or religious tradition, you risk walking the path of destruction. Jesus says in John 10:27, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” His Word is our compass for life.
Today, God is calling your attention back to His Word, the only instruction that gives life, hope, peace and eternal direction. Will you listen and obey or will you continue to rationalise your actions and follow the crowd? Remember that forever, the word of God is settled in heaven. His Word cannot be broken. Align yourself with the Word, and you will not be led astray.
Prayer Points:
1. Lord, forgive and have mercy on my past disobedience to Your word.
2. Lord, I receive the grace to be obedient to Your word.
