For The Sake Of Our Children

Text: Mark 5:22-24,35-42

Memory Verse: “And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus  by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet and begged Him earnestly, saying, ‘My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live’” (Mark 5:22&23).

Dupe was making plans to rent a new apartment after having been made to vacate the former one by her rebellious son. The more she thought about it, however, the more she realised that she wanted a two bed apartment so he could have a place to stay when he came to his senses. He was still her son and she had to make provision for him.
The love relationship between parents and their children is unique and cannot be easily understood. Jairus defied his status as a ruler of the synagogue and sought help from Jesus. The Sanhedrin’s feeling was irrelevant. He wanted his
daughter to live. Job took care of his children, and even offered sacrifices to atone for their sins, so they would not offend God (Job 1:4&5).

The prodigal son’s father must have been on the lookout for him and, so, rejoiced greatly, running to welcome and embrace him when he returned home. He threw a welcome party in appreciation (Luke 15:20-25). Teaching our children the way of the Lord is the best thing we can do for them. Jesus said in Mark 10:14, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.” The miracle of a 12-year-old being
raised from physical death is great, but it is nothing compared to that of a child being raised from spiritual death and becoming born again. Train up your children in the way of the Lord.

Prayer Points:
1. Lord, help my children to understand the importance of accepting You as Lord and Saviour.
2. Lord, keep my children standing in faith.
