Text: Psalm 30:5; Mark 4:35-41
Memory Verse: “For His anger is but for a moment, His favour is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).
Life is full of ups and downs. Your experiences in life are not the ultimate, but your response to those experiences are; how you think, what you do, how you act during the trying times of life. Many people think that the situation they are passing through is because God is angry with them, but God’s anger was satisfied through the blood of Jesus (Romans 5:9). You would have been in a payback mode for the rest of your life and for eternity, if God was to be angry with you!
Even as a believer, you are not insulated from the challenges of life. David experienced this firsthand. His life was perpetually in danger during the reign of King Saul, who declared him persona non-grata. He lived in caves in the wilderness to save his life. As a king, David wept on some occasions, due to the loss of his sons, and other family afflictions, including a palace coup
(2 Samuel 15:30; 18:33).
We shed tears for different reasons and circumstances – sickness, death, lack, failure, disappointment, etc. Even Jesus wept at the tomb of Lazarus (John 11:35). The “night period” is the time of weeping when the challenges of life become overwhelming due to things not working, going from bad to worse, or simply going sour. This is a period when it seems nobody can help or
understand your circumstances.
Everyone will have a night period, but in that period know that God is with you, understands and will see you through.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, turn my sorrow to joy and my weeping to laughter.
2. O Lord, before this year ends, let my testimonies be complete.
