Text: 2 Samuel 9:1-10
Memory Verse:“Then he bowed himself, and said, ‘What is your servant, that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?'” (2 Samuel 9:8).
Mephibosheth was five years old when both his father, Jonathan, and grandfather, Saul, died in the Battle at Mount Gilboa. After theirdeath, Mephibosheth’s nurse took him and fled in panic (2 Samuel 4:4). In her haste, the child fell, or was dropped while fleeing and, from that point, he became unable to walk and ended up living for many years in the slums of Lo-Debar, one of the poorest cities of that day.
Mephibosheth was born into royalty as the grandson of King Saul, but he let the bad breaks in his life define his identity, forgot who he was, and saw himself as no better than a dead dog. He would have lived his entire life in defeat and lack, if David had not brought him to live in the palace, restoring all that belonged to his grandfather.
As a child of God, the King of kings, you are royalty; hence you must have a child-of-the-King mentality, no matter what you may be going through. You may have been through disappointments and feel like a victim, unworthy, not valuable, undeserving, at a disadvantage, but you have to get rid of that dead dog mentality.
The King of kings will bring you to the palace and restore all that belongs to you as His child in Jesus’ name. You must, however, settle it in your mind that as a child of the King, you are worthy, valuable, forgiven, blessed, and victorious.
Prayer Points:
1. Father, thank You for being my Father and breathing Your life into me.
2. Holy Spirit, please help me to quit the dead-dog mentality and adopt a child-of-the-King mentality.
